2014 demonstrates financial cyberthreats increase

Summing up 2014 results in the segment of information security, it is necessary to underline that the latest figures showed the following trend: the number of attacks on PC and mobile devices users is increasing.
Experts point out that it is connected to the fact that recently, to perform different operations, users turn to the services available on mobile devices or tablets, rather than to the ones on PC. The mentioned above trends influence vector threats displacement: the owners of mobile devices have become regular victims of cybercriminals.
Thus, at a conservative estimate, according to conservative estimates, the expiring year every fifth Android platform user faced mobile threats. It is worth noting that 53% of attacks cases included SMS-Trojans using (note that tactic SMS-Trojans involves sending short messages to premium toll numbers without the owner’s privity). The total number of mobile banking Trojans, aimed at money stealing, increased 9 times against 2013.
According to the latest research, attackers have focused considerable effort on trying to steal money from users. Competent experts like “Kaspersky laboratory”, managed to identify more than 16 million attempts to infect Windows-based computers with malware. In addition, in 2014, experts found more than 12 million mobile banking Trojans, by means of which Android users from 90 countries have been attacked.
As for the situation bound to the threats in the Internet as a whole, this year “Kaspersky Lab” has found more than 123 million unique malware. Network attacks over the past 12 months have undergone more than 38% of the computers on Windows. For users of computers based on OS X , the situation traditionally is not that difficult. However, a number of attempts to harm their devices in 2014 turned out to be impressive (approximately 4 million attempts).
